Summer girl

This is my first year working in a school, and I'm so looking forward to summer break! May has been insane and I can't wait to have some time away.

I can't wait for the days of picnics, trips to the beach, the sweaty hot mess that is Texas summer, time to read good books, and of course, snow cones! It doesn't get much better than that. Until then, if you need me, I'll be drowning under the boxes here in Utah. 6 days, people...6 days!

I may be MIA for the next week or more. The 26 hour car ride requires adequate (mental and physical) preparation and blogging may fall by the wayside in the meantime. It's about to get crazy over here.

Oh, and I just got hooked on Polyvore. Thank you, Kelsey, for reminding me of its greatness! In my dream world, this whole outfit will be delivered to my front door today so I can really get ready for summertime.

Happy Thursday!

A new adventure

It's official and I'm so excited to share the big news!

and could not be more excited about it!

God really opened the door for us with an unexpected job opportunity for Charlie. We prayed and prayed for wisdom over the decision and it was a tough and bittersweet one. We love our life here, but feel confident God is calling us back to Texas to be closer to our families and we trust Him fully as we follow the path He is laying out for us.

We'll be living in Dallas for 6 months and then either moving to Austin, Houston, or staying in Dallas. After we move in 6 months, I will have moved 5 times in 2 years. And that's not even the craziest part. Want to hear it? We're moving in 8 days! We're crazy, we know.

Look out, Texas, the Espeys are coming home!

Front yard transformation

One of my favorite parts of our house is the front yard. When we first moved up here back in November, it was d-e-a-d. I didn't mind, because it didn't take away from the excitement of moving and let's face it, it's how I'm used to seeing plants.

It's fun to see the way the yard has transformed over the seasons. Spring/summer definitely has been the most beautiful to me thus far.

This is the view from our front porch our first morning in the new house back in November. Snow and no leaves!

Dead of winter. These were cold, cold days.

Happy for spring! I cannot believe the way the yard is growing.

This grass is the kind of midwest grass that we is never seen in Texas! It's the kind that's so soft that you can lay down and take a nap on it. Heaven!

By spring, we had something that I couldn't believe grew on their own here: tulips! Obviously our landlord planted them last year, but they came back and they are gorgeous! These would have wilted and died by May in Texas.

More perennials growing in our front yard. I can't even believe how beautiful they are. Can anyone identify the flower on the bottom right? For the life of me, I can't figure it out.

I'm back to wanting to cultivate my green thumb, but don't know where to start. For now, I'm just sticking to maintaining what our landlord has so beautifully provided. Happy spring-almost-summer!
